For a vacation you won't easily forget, this beautifuly maintained period home has it all: location - a short walk to one of California's finest beaches; heated 47 foot swimming pool with attached spa; covered terrace with large, rustic outdoor dining table for ten; wonderful yard; pool-side patio; lots of space inside and out; modern amenities; remodeled kitchen and bath; plenty of space for a group of eight. This is a wonderful stop at any time of the year - great for adults and child-friendly too!

This beautiful, spacious home was originally built in 1914. We have chosen to respect its historical charm and character while updating it with modern amenities. The décor combines casual elegance with indoor outdoor living at its Coastal California best. The house fronts on a wide street and is set away from the neighbors on either side, providing privacy while allowing an open feeling. The large rooms and yard provide great versatility: our home is equally suitable for families with young children, families with older children, or for adults without children. In all cases guests will have as much togetherness or enjoy as much privacy as they want.

The property features a large, heated 47 foot swimming pool with attached spa - a welcome feature around the year in Coronado's ideal Mediterranean climate. The pool and spa, which are surrounded by a childproof fence, are a highlight of the visit for many of our guests (with and without children). A morning spent at the beach (a 5 minute walk) can be balanced with an afternoon lazing around or playing in the pool or soaking in the spa. A busy day visiting one of San Diego's many attractions - Zoo, Wild Animal Park, Seaport Village - can be offset with a slower paced day around the pool and away from crowds . This is another distinguishing feature of our home - home pools are not common feature in Coronado.

Although it is furnished with nice pieces, the house is also child friendly - our four children were raised on the beautiful oriental carpets. Decorations include art, antiques and collections from India, Japan, South East Asia, Colombia, Brazil and Mexico. The living and sleeping areas are set off by recently refinished hardwood floors, accented by oriental rugs

The kitchen was recently remodeled and features an open layout with granite countertops, a counter eating area which seats four, and French doors which access the outside patio and swimming pool. The brick poolside patio has a glass countertop table which seats 6, and adjoins the kitchen.The downstairs dining room connects to the kitchen. Its centerpiece is a beautiful hand-carved oak dining room set built in Bavaria in 1914. The table expands to seat 10 - 14 people and comes with table pads to protect the finish, as does the breakfront.

The large living room features a 36" Sony HDTV with digital cable recorder, DVD player and VCR It accesses, through two French doors, a lovely sunroom which is an ideal playroom for younger children - it has a large toy cabinet filled with our grandchildren's toys and a comfortable carpet upon which children can play. The sunroom also has a roll top desk which contains internet access via a high speed Road Runner cable connection with ethernet and wireless connectivity. Behind the living room and immediately outside is a covered patio with a large Colonial-style wood table from Colombia, which seats ten. A café table, two swivel arm chair/rockers and ottoman provide for a pleasant place to read or have a cup of coffee in the sun.

The upstairs is accessed through a wide staircase with oak steps. Each of the four large bedrooms is furnished in a unique and appealing style. The Master Bedroom is furnished with a beautiful dark oak Henredon campaign-style bedroom set with King Size bed. It has a 19" Sony TV with digital cable, DVD player and VCR. It opens through French doors to a large outside terrace with potted plants and Bistro table and chairs. The attached en-suite bathroom has been recently remodeled in a red and black theme, and has a large, glass-walled shower with overhead and wall-mounted shower heads.

The adjoining bedroom has a Queen sized bed, desk, and a rattan easy chair with ottoman. It also opens onto the outside deck.

The two bedrooms across the hall each have two twin beds and face onto the swimming pool. The front one contains a comfortable Ethan Allen swivel rocker with ottoman. The second bathroom preserves its original period character - including its recently re-finished original claw foot bathtub, which has been updated with a shower unit and telephone-style hand shower unit, and original toilet!
